Raising capital is one of the toughest tasks in the startup ecosystem. While most of them start with high hopes and confidence, not having a detailed roadmap or a runway to capital can ruin the company right before it takes off. Having said that, executing the plan with utmost precaution and care will fetch greater results.

€4 million investment

In this regard, Horizons Ventures Limited based out of Hong Kong has invested €4 million in the Belgian scale-up Cloudalize in a Series A funding. It’s worth mentioning that Horizons Ventures Li Ka-Shing was an early investor in several successful tech companies including Facebook, Waze, and Spotify.

Cloudalize – Ghent based growth company!

Founded in 2010 by Benny Willen and Jeffrey Meesemaecker, Cloudalize delivers an adaptive full-stack virtual infrastructure platform for content creation companies and partners. It uses game-engine technology for the creation of interactive applications such as architectural visualizations, virtual showrooms, and 3D product configurators.

Last year, the Belgian scaleup also joined the EIT Digital Accelerator to reinforce its European development ambitions. By joining the EIT Digital Accelerator, Cloudalize benefited from the support of the business developers of the Access to Market team, who helped Cloudalize to achieve its objectives in the key European markets targeted.

Virtualized desktop

Furthermore, the company is also powering the MyGDaaS (GPU-accelerated Desktop-as-a-Service) platform for working with GPU-intensive applications such as the CAD, CAM, CAE, GIS and 3D creation and modeling on a virtualized desktop.

It turns every computer or screen into a powerful virtual graphics workstation and enhances remote collaboration and real-time rendering. The target audience here is mainly developers, designers, and engineers who need a lot of graphics power.

High-performance cloud computing

Cloudalize offers high-performance cloud computing for different types of industries including real estate, finance, education, entertainment, manufacturing, and architecture.

Asia on agenda!

Cloudalize will make use of this funding to expand its sales network, recruit technological profiles at its headquarters in Ghent. At present, the company employs around 24 people and raised around 5 million euro for its Series A. The company has started office at the Belcham-incubator, with Asia on the list in future.

“We want our customers to get their graphics engine with a click”, explains CEO Benny Willen in the Flemish business daily De Tijd. “Our solution is particularly important for the construction and real estate world. Cloudalize technology enables real estate agency sellers to guide their customers through a virtual model of buildings yet to be built. The sale of real estate is rapidly digitizing, and the best customer experience is gaining track, says Willen.
