Founded in 1919, by André Citroën and part of Groupe PSA, Citroën, a French carmaker, has stood as a famous brand in the noble sense of the term. Recently, the company has launched a new electric vehicle called ‘Ami‘, an ultra-compact, agile urban mobility object that is accessible from the age of 14 (in France).
This 100% electric vehicle is inspired by Ami One Concept, which was unveiled in 2019, with a few changes to its final design. This new EV emits zero carbon emission and has a battery that can be charged in just 3 hours from a standard electrical socket, like a smartphone. It’s measures 2.41m long, 1.39m wide and 1.52m high, and has a 7.4m turning radius.
As per the company claims, Ami enables 2 people to travel side by side comfortably, with an enclosed and heated passenger compartment. It has a 5.5kWh battery that can run for 44 miles on a single charge. Designed for city driving and narrow streets, you can drive up to 28 mph.
Talking about the price, users can either buy the two-seater EV outright for €6000 (before rebate) or avail of a long-term lease starting at €19.99 per month.
The opening of orders is scheduled for 30 March in France, and a few months later in Spain, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and then Germany. The first deliveries to customers are scheduled for June in France. Car-sharing at Ami’s wheel will start in Spring in Paris with versions bearing the “Free2Move” logo.
