Georges.tech, Lyon-based startup that aims to simplify accounting for freelancers gets €35M; rebrands to Indy

French startup Georges.tech, known for building AI-powered accounting software, has secured €35M funding in Series B round. The round was led by Singular with participation from Alven Capital and Kerala Ventures. The latest funding brings the total amount raised to €46M so far. Going forward, the company will be called Indy. 

The funding will be used to improve its product to support more freelancers, including those who work under the Industrial and Commercial Benefits (BIC) regime. Part of the funding will be used to hire 100 people in Lyon, France. Also, there are plans to expand in American markets as well.

Simplifying independent accounting

Founded by Adrien Plat, Come Fouques, Pablo Larvor, and Romain Koenig in 2016, Indy offers accounting software that enables tens of thousands of freelancers and small businesses to automate their accounting tasks. The company is on a mission to simplify independent accounting and help companies to focus on what matters.

The company’s platform offers simple and intuitive software that allows freelancers and small businesses to make all their declarations very easily, in accordance with the standards of the Tax Administration: declarations 2035, 2033, and 2065, balance sheet, income statement, VAT declaration, social declaration, and much more.

All you need to do is to connect your bank account with Indy. The platform imports all your transactions and tries to tag and categorise as many transactions as possible. Users can add missing information along with invoices and receipts.

Supports 40,000 clients

Gradually, the company has expanded its service to support more types of companies. Now, they’ve launched support for small companies in EURL, SARL, SAS, SASU as well. 

The startup has already 40,000 clients, which it offers an annual subscription of €240. At present, the company has around 100 employees. 

“Now that we have demonstrated our ability to support tens of thousands of freelancers with a level of satisfaction unmatched in our sector, this new financing will give us the means to impose our model more widely by freeing up hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs from their administrative chores,” says Côme Fouques, president and co-founder of Indy.
