It’s that time of the year again when the tech world is buzzing with events. First Microsoft, then Apple, Amazon, and now Google! The search engine giant held its annual Made By Google 2019 event in New York. As expected, Google has unveiled its latest Pixel 4 series smartphones along with a revamped pair of Pixel Buds, Pixelbook Go, and several new Nest smart home devices. If you’ve missed the event by any chance, here’s all the hardware it announced:
Google Pixel 4 series!
Google launched the much-expected Pixel 4 series in two variants – Pixel 4 (5.7-inch FHD+ OLED screen) and Pixel 4 XL (6.3-inch QHD+ OLED screen). Both the smartphones feature a 90Hz refresh rate.
Motion Sensor gesture!
The Pixel 4 series devices come equipped with radar-based Motion Sense gestures powered by the Soli radar sensor. It can sense when you’re reaching for the phone and will initiate face unlock or turn off your screen when you’re not around.
New Quick Gestures let you skip songs when you don’t want to pick up your phone. Just wave your hand to snooze alarms, dismiss timers, or silence your phone ringer. Motion Sense is enabled everywhere, except in Japan, where it’s coming soon.
Redesigned Google Assistant!
Google Assistant is deeply integrated within the operating system on the Pixel 4 as well as across apps. It can quickly open apps, search your phone, share what’s on your screen, and more.
Recorder app that transcribes speech!
The new Recorder app in Pixel 4 devices lets users record meetings, lectures, jam sessions, and simultaneously transcribes speech and identifies sounds. At present, the company has started with English and expected to roll out in more languages.
Designed to keep your data secure with Titan M security chip
Pixel 4 series includes custom-built Titan M security chip to protect data and ensure the integrity of the operating system.
Capture milky way like a pro!
In general, Pixel devices are known for the best cameras. The Pixel 4 series features dual camera setup – 12.2-megapixel camera along with a new 16-megapixel telephoto lens for super Res Zoom feature. With this camera setup, users can now shoot not only night skies, but also stars and even milky way as well. Also, there are options to fine-tune the brightness and amount of detail in the shadows, helping with difficult shots like sunset portraits.
Other specifications!
Pixel 4 series is powered by Snapdragon 855 with 6GB of RAM and run Android 10 with three years of Android updates and security updates. It comes in a 64GB/128GB variant and has an IP68 rating, as well. The Pixel 4 and 4XL is powered by 2800mAh and 3700mAh, respectively. Pixel 4 and 4XL will be available in Clearly White, Just Black, and a limited edition, Oh So Orange at €749/£669/$799 and €899/£829/$799 respectively. It is now available for pre-order and will ship on October 24, globally, including Europe.
Google Pixel buds with the hybrid design are now official!
Pixel buds from Google feature Adaptive Sound, which dynamically adjusts the volume as you move from a quiet environment to a noisy one. It has a hybrid design, and the spatial vent underneath reduces the plugged-ear feeling.
Interestingly, the Pixel Buds have ‘voice accelerometer’ which can detect speech through the vibrations of your jawbone. As per the company claims, the Pixel Buds offers 5 hours of listening on a single charge and up to 24 hours with the wireless charging case.
They are sweat and water-resistant as well. Google Pixel Buds come in Clearly White, Oh So Orange, Quite Mint, Almost Black colour options. However, there is no information about Europe’s availability as of now. Google Pixel Buds will be available next year in the US at $179 (approx €162).

For the uninitiated, Pixel Book Go is a portable lightweight laptop running on ChromeOS. It features a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with up to 4K resolution. It comes in four variants and is powered by up to 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with up to 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage.
At the event, Google also emphasised on the improved keyboard with hush keys to minimise noise disruption. It also has a dedicated Google Assistant key, as well. The Pixelbook Go pre-orders in the UK starts in January 2020 at £629, while the availability for the rest of Europe is still unknown.
Google Nest Mini and Nest Wifi Mesh
The company has announced Google Nest Mini, second-generation Google Assistant speakers, and new Nest Wifi mesh router. The new Nest Mini comes with upgraded hardware and software, and it brings the bass.
As per the company claims, the Nest Mini will provide bass that’s twice as strong as the original Google Home Mini. It will dynamically adjust the volume based on any background noise at the time. The Nest Mini is available for pre-order at €55 and comes in Chalk, Charcoal, Coral, and a Sky color. It goes on sale from October 22.
On the other hand, the Wifi Mesh delivers up to two times the speed and up to 25 percent better coverage. A pack of two can cover a 3,800-square-foot home. Also, the Nest Wifi point has the same speaker as Mini, with the Google Assistant.
Google Stadia launching on November 19
Apart from product launch, the company is launching Stadia on November 19, 2019, with the pre-orders shipping soon. The servers will be open to the public starting at 9 AM PST/9:30 PM IST on November 19 and will be available in countries like Canada, Ireland, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway besides the U.S.
