As there is an advancement in technology, women-centric startups are also on the rise. Lately, there has been an increase in health-centric startups focusing on women. Especially, many of these femtech startups are circulated around fertility and birth control, thereby cashing in on the booming sector.
Berlin-based femtech company Inne founded by Eirini Rapti in 2017 is one such femtech startup that has launched a product keeping busy women in mind. It encourages women to use a reliable and safe contraceptive method, which does not use hormones to change their natural cycles. The company enables birth control sans chemicals, which is a huge leap forward in women’s health.
Raises €8M funding
The German femtech startup has raised €8 million funding in Series A funding led by Blossom Capital along with participation from Monkfish Equity, which is an early backer of Inne and angel investors, including Taavet Hinrikus, co-founder of TransferWise, Tom Stafford, managing partner at DST and Rolf Schromgens, co-founder of Trivago.
The company will use this investment to expand its team and work on the mission to help women achieve safe and reliable contraception. It also is in plans to hire software engineers, operations members, and designers from across Europe.
Develops a saliva biosensor device
Inne lets women have a greater understanding of their bodies and take control of their contraceptive choices. The company develops a saliva biosensor device, which lets women identify and predict the fertile phase of their natural cycle. This product is compatible with the busy everyday life of women and is simple and hygienic for them to use. Moreover, it provides more insights than period-tracking apps.
Works with a companion app
Inne’s team of designers, engineers, and scientists has developed a biosensor and reader. These work with a connected app and will be available later this year after getting the medical certification in Europe.
