Last update:

Right now, millions of people across the globe are using dating app to find their someone special. Why? It offers a new way of finding a soul mate with a novel approach, which, as per some researchers, leads to a more interracial and fruitful marriage.

While there are lots of apps, including Tinder, Bumble, and many more available right now, Hinge, a social discovery network has a distinctive approach comparatively. In other words, this dating platform is all about cultivating relationships rather than mindless flipping.

For those who want to get off dating apps!

For starters, Hinge is the dating app for people who want to get off dating apps. As per the company claims, singles are busy swiping and matching instead of connecting with the person. However, Hinge is on a mission to change that.

Based out of New York, Justin McLeod founded Hinge in February 2011 with a mission to create real-life connections. As a romantic and the protagonist of a real-life love story, he was upset by the negative hookup culture dating apps had created, so in October 2016, he relaunched Hinge to create a culture of thoughtful dating. Justin’s vision for a more thoughtful experience resonate with millennials and led to the company’s user base growing 400% in the last year.

3 out of 4 first dates lead to second dates!

Instead of going with the traditional swipe, the startup chose to go with scroll, in turn encouraging users to focus more on personality traits rather than looks. On Hinge, there are no rules, timers, or games. Instead, you’ll meet your most compatible matches, and you’ll have unique conversations over what you’ve shared on your detailed profile. It’s a natural way to find a great first date. Currently, 3 out of 4 first dates lead to second dates, and we’re setting up a date every 4 seconds.

Preferred Hinge membership to make the most out of the app!

Available on both iOS or Android., users can use the Hinge for free, but to make the most out of the app, upgrading to the Preferred Hinge membership seems like a wise option. Notably, the main difference between the free and premium version are the filtering options.

For those who would like access to advanced preferences, filters, and the ability to see who likes them all in one place, users can upgrade to a Preferred Hinge Membership for a small monthly fee. Hinge does not offer an annual subscription option.

Design your profile through Hinge Experts!

The free version of the app lets the user filter for age, gender, location, ethnicity, height, and religion. In the case of membership, users can filter with more options, including smoking and drinking preferences, political views, and much more. It’s worth mentioning that the user will be able to access “Hinge Experts” to help design your profile as well.

Global expansion on cards!

At present, the Hinge app is available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and India. Back in April, the dating platform expanded its presence in the EU, including Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The company is planning for global expansion, as well.

With thousands of apps available on both mobile and websites, the dating industry is now one of the fastest evolving industries on the planet with a considerable number of singles turning out to the Internet to find their company.

Fastest growing dating app in the Netherlands!

McLeod’s Hinge is one of the beneficiaries in this booming market, especially in the Netherlands. The data showing that Hinge is the fastest-growing dating app in The Netherlands is based on findings from an app called Annie. The most popular prompt in the Netherlands at the moment is “I am looking for …”. The prompt that led to the most dates in the Netherlands is “Worst fad I participated in …”

Meet your best match!

According to the company, users only meet their best match, so they can have unique conversations about what they share on their detailed profile. The conversations are initiated by the various “prompts” in the app.

With the prompts, users are motivated to respond to specific topics and answer questions on behalf of their profile. Matches can leave a comment on these prompts or “like” them. Many believe that these apps help people make better dating decisions over time. Whether you like it or not, this platform is here to stay!
