The Redmond-giant is back in the game with not one, not two but with a dozen of crazy offerings! Following the bunch of hardware announcements recently from rivals like Apple, Amazon, and Samsung, Microsoft hosted its annual Surface event to showcase the latest hardware the company has developed ahead of the holiday season.
At the event in New York, Microsoft has launched a slew of new products. Among other devices, the big standouts are the Surface Neo, foldable Surface device, as well as Duo, a full-on foldable Android phone. If you missed Microsoft’s event, here are the big highlights.
Microsoft Surface Duo Android smartphone is the biggest surprise!
Much to everyone’s delight, Microsoft introduced Surface Duo, a new Surface smartphone that runs Android. This device comes with two 5.6-inch display joined by a 360-degree hinge. It comes with Google Play Store and Microsoft launcher.
However, the company didn’t reveal much about the specifications as such. The Surface Duo is expected to go on sale during Holidays in 2020 (November or December).

Competing directly against Airpods, the Surface earbuds feature a secure design with intuitive touch and voice controls for music and calls. As per the company claims, it is expected to offer 24 hours of battery life. It supports over 60 languages and has your words automatically translated to text. This funky looking earbud will be available for sale later this year in Europe and other regions for $249 (approx €227).

Another big surprise at this event is the unveiling of Microsoft Surface Neo, a dual-screen device featuring two 9-inch displays held together by a sturdy 360-degree hinge. Interestingly, it comes with a specially designed keyboard than can rest on top of the screen.
Upon resting the keyboard, the second display features’ WonderBar,’ which looks more like a Touch-Bar and an on-display trackpad. It is shipped with Windows 10X, which is exclusively developed for multi-screen devices.

The Surface Pro X is a 2-in-1, 13-inch device that can work like a Surface Pro with a detachable keyboard. It is powered by the new Microsoft SQ1 processor co-developed with Qualcomm, Adreno 685 iGPU under the hood. The keyboard has a pen docking for secure storage and charging for the new Slim Pen. It’s worth mentioning that the company has updated the design of its pen after several years.
The battery life on the Surface Pro X is claimed to be up to 13 hours. The pre-order for Surface Pro X starts today and will be made available from November 5 in Europe and other regions. It will be available at $999 (approx €912).

In addition to other products, the company also updated its traditional Surface product – Surface Pro 7 that offers laptop-to-tablet versatility. It features a powerful 10th Generation Intel Core processor along with Intel Iris Plus / Intel UHD graphics. Furthermore, the Surface Pro 7 comes with the Surface Pen that has 4,096 levels of pressure, 0.1mm precision, and Tilt sensing. It is now available for pre-order starting today, and the base model costs $749 (approx €685). The availability of Surface Pro 7 is yet to be announced.
Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 balances power and elegance
The Surface Laptop 3 will be available in 13-inch and 15-inch with Intel 10th Gen quad-core Ice Lake processors with Iris Plus graphics. According to Microsoft, this laptop will be three times faster than Apple’s current MacBook Air. On top of that, the Redmond giant co-developed the new Ryzen Surface Edition processor with AMD to co-for it a 15-inch variant.
Lastly, Microsoft believes this processor brings the fastest graphics performance of any laptop in its class. The Surface Laptop 3 13-inch starts at $999 (approx €912), and Surface Laptop 15-inch starts at $1199 (approx €1,094). Both the variants will go on sale from October 22 in selected regions.
