Here’s the list of most inspiring tech leaders in 2019

In a new survey conducted by Hired, a marketplace that matches tech talent with the most innovative global companies, Elon Musk has been ranked the most inspirational leader in technology. The report titled 2019 Global Brand Health Report released on Tuesday reveals the list of most inspiring leaders in tech.

Hired polled over 3,600 tech workers across the UK, the US, France and Canada via its online platform between June and July this year. Famed for bringing about a disruption in the auto sector with all-electric cars, Musk is renowned for his futuristic aspirations to build a city on Mars, developing flying cars, etc. These aspirations have helped his companies gain the spotlight.

Well, the list of most inspiring leaders in tech ranked by the report includes Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Ma, and Jeff Bezos among others. Having said that, here is the list of most inspiring leaders in tech as ranked by Hired’s Brand Health Report.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors is an inspiration for many. He is one of the entrepreneurs who carved a niche for himself in the technology industry. With his ideas, Musk revolutionised online payments, space travel, and electric cars. Elon Musk aims to develop supersonic electric airplanes that are aimed at colonising Mars. Well, he is behind successful and popular brands including SpaceX, Tesla Motors, SolarCity and Paypal. He has set serious entrepreneur goals for the budding business owners. He left his doctorate at Standford University as he was interested in the field of technology.

Jeff Bezos

Jeff, the CEO and founder of Amazon, graduated from Princeton University. He is one of the word’s wealthiest entrepreneurs with a net worth of $100 billion. After graduation, be worked at Wall Street in numerous jobs and founded Amazon in 1994. Initially, Amazon was an online bookstore but expanded into several e-commerce services later. Notably, Amazon is the world’s largest internet company when it comes to revenue.

Satya Nadella

Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft after Steve Ballmer. Before becoming the CEO of Microsoft, he was the Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise Group and was responsible for building and running computing platforms. Nadella has led a number of major projects at Microsoft including its move to cloud computing and the development of one of the world’s largest cloud infrastructure. He emphasises openness to work with other tech giants including Apple, IBM, Salesforce, Dropbox and more.

Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg along with fellow students at Harvard University, Chris Hughes, Dustin Moskovitz and Eduardo Saverin, created Facebook. Initially, it was founded for the internal communication of Harvard students. However, it did not take a long time to become popular across the world and become a leading social networking platform. At the age of 23, he became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire.

Jack Ma

Jack Ma is the co-founder and former executive chairperson of Alibaba Group. He is considered a global ambassador for Chinese business and finds a place for himself in the world’s most powerful people list by Forbes frequently. Back in September 2018, Ma announced that he would retire from Alibaba with Daniel Zhang succeeding him to become the executive chairman. As of June 2019, he is one of the richest men in China with a net worth of $35.6 billion.

Sheryl Sandberg

Sheryl Sandberg is the COO of Facebook and founder of Leanin.org. She was elected as one of the board of directors of Facebook by the existing members. She carries the credits of being the first woman to serve the board of the social networking company. Prior to that, she was the Vice President of global online sales and operations at the search engine giant Google. She also played a role in the launch of Google.org.

Reed Hastings

Reed Hastings is the co-founder, CEO and chairman of the popular streaming service Netflix. He attended Standford University for a master’s degree in computer science. It was in 1997 that Hastings and Marc Randolph co-founded Netflix providing flat rate movie rental by mail to users in the US. Now, Netflix has grown quite successful and is one of the largest streaming service used by millions of users all over the world.

Susan Wojcicki

Susan Wojcicki is the CEO of YouTube since 2014. She was involved in the founding of Google and became the first marketing manager of the search giant in 1999. She grew up on the Stanford campus and one of her sisters Anne Wojcicki is the founder of 23andMe. She graduated from Harvard University in history and literature but discovered her interest in technology later. After leading Google’s advertising and analytic products such as AdSense, AdWords, Google Analytics, and Double, she became the CEO of YouTube.

Marissa Mayer

Marissa Mayer is former president and CEO of Yahoo! In 2017, she stepped down from the board of Yahoo! Following the acquisition of its operating business by Verizon Communications. She graduated from Stanford University and was a key spokeswoman at Google. She founded Lumi Labs in 2017 along with Enrique Munoz Torres after leaving Yahoo! The company focuses on consumer media and Artificial Intelligence.

Anne Wojcicki

Anne Wojcicki is the co-founder and CEO of 23andMe, a personal genomics company. 23AndMe is a privately held biotechnology and personal genomics company providing genetic testing. She was named ‘The Most Daring CEO’ back in 2013 by Fast Company. She is also the co-founder and one of the board members of the Breakthrough Prizes, which is a scientific award funded by internet entrepreneurs including Mark Zuckerberg and Sergey Brin among others.
