Why its hot: Xeltis is a clinical-stage medical device startup, which leverages breakthrough science to transform heart valve therapy. The company’s technology enables the natural restoration of the heart valve. It is revolutionising the treatment of heart valve disease with the restorative heart valves that enable the patients’ body naturally form a new valve with the Endogenous Tissue Restoration (ETR) approach.

It provides easy access via Multi-Project Wafer, which enables low-cost and fast prototyping for photonic integrated circuits. The company offers engineering of the process to create customer product with customer specifications. It also provides product development services for volume production of customer products.

Why its hot: Dutch travel marketplace Withlocals lets travellers enjoy cities like a local resident. The platform connects hundreds of thousands of travellers with verified local hosts every month. It operates across Europe and Asia and provides personalised private tours and activities such as food, music, etc. depending on their passion.

Ioniqa

Valuation: €84 million – €120 million
Total Funding: €14.3 million
Founded Year: 2009

Why its hot: Ioniqa has a patented technology, which uses magnetic colloidal systems with nanoparticles to break down PET into a reusable monomer. The ability to remove pigmentation is the distinct feature of Ioniqa’s technology. It opens up the range of available PET feedstock, which can be economically recycled.

Why its hot: Dutch medtech company Bambi Medical operates with the objective to reduce pain and stress in preterm infants and enhance the parent-child bonding. Bambi Medical designs, develops and manufactures products for NICUs (Neonatal Intensive Care Units) in hospitals to realise its objective.
