These 8 Dutch startups were named winners at Accenture Innovation Awards 2018

On November 2, 2018, the winners of the Accenture Innovation Awards 2018 were announced. The famous summit took place in Maarssen in the Netherlands and the awards were handed out in eight categories including health, mobility, security, nutrition, education, living & working, finance and climate.

All the finalists were given a chance to present their concept to the jury, accelerators and investors before announcing the winner. And, of the five finalists nominated from each category, one of them was announced as the winner based on the pitches. All the eight winners will receive advice, workshops and media value from the partners of the event.

Here, we list the eight winners of the Accenture Innovation Awards 20218 under each category..

#1 Sponsh

Sponsh won the Accenture Innovation Awards 2018 in the Nutrition category. Based in SponLeeuwarden, Friesland and founded in 2018, this startup produces water from air for irrigation and drinking water. The startup aims to put an end to water scarcity by providing affordable water for everyone and it from the air without using up any energy.

#2 Incision Academy

Founded in 2014 in Amsterdam by Theo Wiggers, Guido Geerts and Jaap Maljiers, Incision Academy won the award in the education category. The team comprises of highly motivated, passionate and structured surgeons, doctors and anatomists. They explore new paths and intend to change the world of surgical education. They follow a step-by-step approach to performing procedures in practical steps and are working on a common language to be used in operation theatres all over the world.

#3 D-rail

In the Mobility category, D-rail uses a sensor system to detect railway conditions. The railway infrastructure management system can analyse the data to make it possible to avoid stops in traffic. In the worst case scenario, it can even prevent accidents.

#4 RAW Paints

RAW Paints won the Accenture Innovation Awards in the Climate category. It is a powder formula, which becomes a quality paint for walls with the addition of water. Their paint powder is made from mineral raw materials with high UV resistance, which is solvent-free and let walls breathe.

#5 QuantiCor

Founded in 2017, QuantiCor is a Security solutions startup that has also won the innovation program award this time. It equips the mid-sized and big enterprises with the next-generation security solutions, which are resistant even against powerful quantum computer attacks. The startup aims at a secure world protected against quantum computer attacks and provides the next generation of innovative security solutions.

#6 SafeNed

SafeNed received the Accenture Innovation Awards in the Finance category for turning financial risk and regulatory challenges into simple and secure solutions. It secures by enabling companies and individuals use the world’s most stable asset classes and protecting their partners against fraud. It was found in 2014 and its headquarters is located in London.

#7 Expivi

Expivi is the winner in the Living & Working category. Founded in 2017 and based in Eindhoven by Babak M. Mirzaie, Siamak M. Mirzaie and Jur Rademakers, this is a next-generation 3D product configurator with a groundbreaking technology, which will enable real-time visualisation from any browser, VR and AR. This 3D e-commerce platform creates the wow factor that boosts online sales with the photorealistic 3D visualisation of products in the webshop.

#8 BI/OND

BI/OND is the winner in the health category. It is a versatile organ-on-chip platform provides biologists with dynamic microfluidic chips in combination with human cell cultures mimic the minimal functionalities of human organs. It aims to achieve accurate disease models and better medicine. It was founded by Cinzia Silvestri and Nikolas Gaio in 2017.

Regarding the Accenture Innovation Awards, Kirsten Spahr van der Hoek, Innovation Lead at Accenture said, “With the Accenture Innovation Awards, we support innovative entrepreneurs to further implement their solutions and connect them to companies, investors and accelerators. The Accenture Innovation Awards are a great way to stay on top of the latest digital innovations, but also to discover new opportunities that drive our economy with the right impulse.”
