Freetrade is a challenger stockbroker that’s brought mobile-first, commission-free investing to the UK. In the recent development, the company has started onboarding clients in the EU.
Notably, the fintech startup, which raised $15 million (approx €13.5 million) in Series A funding last year, has a waitlist with tens of thousands of clients from across the EU and will begin its European rollout in the Netherlands and Ireland.
Freetrade CEO and Founder Adam Dodds said:
We’re extremely proud to have brought commission-free trading to over 90,000 customers in the UK. Now it’s Europe’s turn.
With over 90,000 customers and 60 employees, Freetrade is on a mission to enable people to invest and grow their savings by benefitting from the global economic growth driven by public companies.
It’s worth mentioning that, the UK challenger stockbroker is onboarding the first 100 early beta testers from both countries using Invest by Freetrade, the proprietary brokerage system developed in-house by Freetrade’s team of software engineers.
Dodds:
The EU is a market of over 100 million millennials. There’s a huge opportunity for us to get everyone investing on the continent with our low fees and state of the art technology. The fact that tens of thousands of investors in the EU have signed up to join our app also shows there is a big demand for our commission-free offering.
More customers will be added in batches, and Freetrade will be expanding its geographical reach to more countries in the European Economic Area over the coming months.
