Last update:

Belgian software startup Sentiance has secured a new €8 million round in funding to scale up its sensor analytics platform and accelerate the company’s growth in Asia and the United States. Sentiance provides automated real-time intelligence data from smartphones, connected devices, and wearables. The latest round of funding was led by Volta Ventures in conjunction with KPN Ventures, a co-VC investor in the company. Previous investors such as Samsung’s Catalyst Fund and Sentiance top management also contributed to the injection of capital. The extra funding will be used to further Sentiance’s goal to improve its platform and accelerate growth globally.

Furthering IOT Analytics and Machine Learning

The Sentiance machine learning platform uses deep learning to gather and analyse data from connected devices to provide detailed behavioral and contextual insights. Using machine learning algorithms the company turns data from internet of things (IOT) gateways such as mobile phones and wearables into valuable insights into user behavior. Clients using the Sentiance platform can then use its data to understand and predict customers lifestyles. Such powerful information helps to deliver highly personalized and context-aware experiences. As a result, the Sentiance platform now powers a range of applications that include driver scoring and class telematics. The human behaviour cognitive system also powers smart home products, personalized health programs, and customer engagement in real-time.

The Internet of You

sentiance raise 8 million in new funding

IOT technology is growing fast and devices used to generate a lot of data based on user behavior and the reasons for it. This is where Sentiance wants to strengthen its intelligence platform and the new funding round will help further those goals. Many of the world’s leading IOT innovators already use the platform. These include major companies in ride-hailing, insurance, health, and mobility. Ultimately, Sentiance sees the age of connected devices as one that should be focused on the user. Speaking in a press release announcing the latest round of funding, Toon Vanparys, CEO of Sentiance said; “Ultimately the Internet of Things should be about people, not things. We believe the real promise of IOT is the Internet of You.”

Sentiance’ technology is a powerful predictive analytics platform that bodes well for IOT user experiences.  Future digital customers will expect more personalized experiences and the Belgian startup is well on its way to realizing that ambition.

Turning IOT Sensor Data into Rich Insights

Founded in January 2015, Sentiance now has offices in Antwerp, London, and New York. Due to its team of highly experienced data science experts the company has emerged as the market leader. Consequently, Sentiance aims to become the context engine for IoT through its expertise in behavioural analytics. Now the company is looking to turn its sensor analytic platform into a cognitive system for human behavior. Furthermore, the new funding will help Sentiance accelerate its expansion into the US and Asia.
