The UK-based startup Shine has redefined the intricate recruitment process with its cutting-edge technology. The platform offers next-generation video interviewing and pre-hire screening solution for the companies as well as candidates.
Secured nearly half a million
Shine has just attained a €400,000 fund inflow from North East Venture Fund, sponsored by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Mercia Fund Managers.
Ian Wilson of Mercia Fund Managers stated, “Shine Interview offers a more modern approach to recruitment, ensuring a more positive experience for candidates and allowing managers to reduce the time spent by almost half in some cases. The funding will allow David to build his team, step up marketing activities and provide working capital to meet the growing demand.”
Shine – a cloud-based efficient recruitment solution
Headquartered in Sunderland, Shine was established by David Copple in 2016. The startup eliminates the time consuming physical interview with a cost-effective fair innovative solution.
The platform enables candidates to record their videos responding the questions previously set by recruiting managers of companies. Further, candidates get the liberty to undergo the process at their convenient time through the device of their choice (smartphone, tablet or laptop).
Recruiters watch the videos and choose candidates accordingly without scheduling a dedicated time as in traditional interviews. Shine incorporates a Values Based Recruitment (VBR) tool, which facilitates organisations to select the best-fit candidates for their work environments, needs and expectations.
Plans to become the leader in video interview space in the UK
With a team of 10 members, Shine caters clients spread across 80 countries. Some of its prominent clientele include Nissan, Matalan, Reed, SkyBet, Parkdean Resorts and the University of Toronto. The startup will utilise the fund in expanding its team.
Shine CEO David Copple articulated, “I’ve been involved in startups for years – from growing a team from scratch to scaling up following investment rounds, managing offshore teams and setting up new contact centres. In each case, the quality of the team was paramount and I was keen to look beyond the CV and consider how the individual would fit with the team.
David added, “There had to be a better way than receiving endless CVs and sitting through numerous first-round interviews. Shine has grown rapidly over the last few years. The investment will help us to capitalise on our position as the UK’s leading video interview and pre-hire assessment platform.”
