Last update:

Texas, US-based Siemens Digital Industries Software, a provider of product lifecycle management and manufacturing operations management software, has announced the acquisition of Rotterdam-based TimeSeries, an Independent Software Vendor (ISV), and Mendix’s partner (Mendix was acquired by Siemens Digital back in 2018).

According to TimeSeries, it has significant expertise in the development of vertical apps built on the Mendix low-code platform. This will help Siemens to accelerate digital transformation by increasing adoption of low-code and offering new apps such as smart warehousing, predictive maintenance, energy management, remote inspections and more.

The Mendix low-code platform is the cloud foundation for Siemens’ Xcelerator portfolio of integrated software and services.

Brief about Mendix

Founded in 2005 by Derckjan Kruit and Derek Roos, Mendix is an enterprise-grade low-code, high-productivity platform that enables organisations to innovate and compete with applications.

The Mendix platform helps promote collaboration between business and IT teams in order to accelerate application development cycles, while maintaining high standards of security, quality, and governance. Mendix’s ‘Go Make It’ platform has been adopted by more than 4,000 companies around the world.

Speaking on the development, Derek Roos, CEO & co-founder of Mendix, says, “The addition of TimeSeries to Siemens will help our customers and partners get to value with low-code even faster. We’re equipping enterprises with cutting-edge digital capabilities to help them elevate how they conduct business and deliver rich, engaging experiences. The TimeSeries team brings deep expertise in developing SaaS solutions for a range of verticals, and I’m excited to welcome them to Siemens.”

Make your business smarter

TimeShare was founded in 2012 by Erik Gouka and Michel Schilt. Both founders are experienced entrepreneurs that have worked together for 20 years on innovative solutions in the energy and utilities market.

TimeSeries applies technology like Mendix, big data, AI & Blockchain to create intelligent solutions. Since its inception, the company has been developing industry-specific applications for industries including manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences, energy and banking, and financial services.

The app templates solve repeatable problems and can be customised to the needs of individual enterprises. These apps, combined with Siemens’ industrial expertise and go-to-market reach, can enable customers to utilise the power of low-code and the Mendix platform even faster.

TimeSeries has offices in the US, the Netherlands, Germany, and Canada.

Aim of this acquisition

Siemens believes that TimeSeries will expand capabilities that can help enterprises and ISVs accelerate their digitalisation efforts using the Mendix platform.

Through industry-specific apps, templates, and reusable components that leverage advanced technologies – such as AI, intelligent process automation, UI design, multi-cloud, and more – Siemens will be able to deliver better experiences to customers, employees, and suppliers.

Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO, Siemens Digital Industries Software, says, “Since our acquisition of Mendix in 2018, we have continued to see how this powerful low-code platform is a game changer for companies across every industry. The addition of TimeSeries to Siemens will enable us to significantly expand the development of new apps, increase adoption of our low code platform and grow the Xcelerator ecosystem.”
