Last update:

Electric vehicles have become highly popular these days! Many electric vehicle manufacturers are constantly growing as the world is seeking sustainable solutions in almost everything. While electric cars arenโ€™t selling to a great extent, electric bikes and scooters are getting mainstream in Europe.

Already, the market has been quite lucrative with numerous companies having rolled out their electric bikes for commuters. Now, Silicon Valley-based Specialized founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard has set a new standard in the e-bike industry. The company has launched its latest, lightest and most innovative e-bike at the Tour de France. Called Turbo Creo SL, this new electric bike has a completely new motor and supporting system.

Tech behind Specializedโ€™s e-bike

The experts at Specializedโ€™s team in California collaborated with their Swiss e-bike engineering team to develop the lightweight and lively carbon fibre road bike. The new e-bike is designed in California and engineered in Switzerland. It features a new motor and battery system dubbed SL1.1, which represents the ideal performance e-road bike motor.

Turbo Creo SL is the result of a decade of research, develop and ride testing. It comes with the right combination of size, weight, power, range, and ride quality. The electric bike is capable of delivering consistent power in a natural measure as required by riders. Specialized has brought all the features that a performance e-road bike will need to deliver the right performance and experience.

Turbo Creo SL โ€“ An Insight!

Weighing just 12.2 kg, Turbo Creo SL is quite lighter than other e-bikes with bottom-bracket based motors. The SL1.1 motor developed from scratch for road riding provides 240 watts of smooth and consistent power. It also feels quite natural to pedal and riders can get twice the reward with the same effort.

With this motor, Turbo Creo SL delivers 195 km of available real-time range. The 320Wh internal battery at the down tube delivers 130 km and the optional 160Wh range extender contributes to another 65 km. This range extender comes with the S-Works and Founderโ€™s bikes. It can also be bought for other models at โ‚ฌ369.90. The internal battery can be charged in just 2.5 hours and there is a Range Calculator to determine how far you ride.

Works with a companion app!

Riders can personalise their power delivery of the electric bike using the Mission Control app. The bike operates in three riding modes โ€“ Eco, Sport and Turbo. The app is constantly being improved and can be used to automatically manage the battery life. It will estimate how long the battery will last and how far riders can go with the existing power. The SL1.1 motor features integrated ANT+, which is a multicast wireless sensor network technology to connect the power meter tracking the rider power.

3 variants of Turbo Creo SL

The 12.2 kg Turbo Creo SL is priced at โ‚ฌ12,499. Apart from this, there are three variants of the electric bike. The Turbo Creo SL Expert EVO weighs 13.3 kg and features larger tires and components. Ideal for adventurous riders, this electric bike is priced at โ‚ฌ8,499. The Turbo Creo SL Expert features carbon chassis and Future Shock 2.0 weighs 13.1 kg and is priced at โ‚ฌ8,499.

The S-Works Turbo Cro SL Founderโ€™s Edition weighs 11.9 kg and is a very exclusive offering. It celebrates the first-ever gaming-changing Turbo road bike. This electric bike has a special lightweight build and gold accents. The limited-edition bike is priced at โ‚ฌ14,000.
