Last update:

After the succes of the FinTech programs in London, Singapore and New York, today Startupbootcamp announced the launch of their new FinTech & CyberSecurity program in the Dutch capital. The new accelerator program is now open for applications. So what are you waiting for?

High hopes

With the new program, the global industry-focused startup accelerator can now add cyber security to their worldwide innovation ecosystem. The accelerator has high hopes for the new program, and aims to accelerate and support startups that work on areas such as blockchain, P2P payments and other cyber security related areas such as fraud detection, encryption and cloud security.

Disruption is key in the FinTech industry – startups with innovative ideas are continuously improving and changing the way value and ownership are exchanged, risk is being managed and transactions are being performed. In this growing digital world and age, security is of utmost importance.  It’s no wonder that a lot of leading names in the global FinTech & CyberSecurity sector like Rabobank, PwC and Delta Lloyd are backing the program.

Amsterdam

We started preparing for this 3rd program in Amsterdam about 14 months ago and it’s been an amazing journey so far,” says Patrick de Zeeuw, co-founder of Startupbootcamp. “FinTech has been one of the hottest startup themes in the last 3 years and Cyber Security will be one of the top industries angels and VC’s are betting on in 2017. That’s why we decided to launch this program in Amsterdam, next to our E-commerce and Smart City & Living programs.”

Amsterdam seems like the ideal city for the new program, with a vibrant startup ecosystem in both FinTech and CyberSecurity and innovative ideas coming from companies like Adyen. Amsterdam is also the main base of operations for Startupbootcamp, which established its operations in the Dutch capital five years ago and has since accelerated over 80 startups, the vast majority of which got funded and are still active.

Rejuvenation and new energy

“FinTech is about rejuvenation and bringing new energy into the industry. It’s one thing to know that disruption is happening – it’s another to know what to do,” according to Michael Dooijes, Managing Director Startupbootcamp FinTech & CyberSecurity. “It’s nothing new to say that large companies are struggling with change. But many companies spend too much time thinking about change and how to do it best. I do not believe you can think your way into innovation, you have to act.”

Interested startups can apply for Startupbootcamp FinTech & CyberSecurity Amsterdam Accelerator Program. Applications will remain open until the 21st of October 2016.
