Last update:

If you are a student with the ambition to get your own startup off the ground, and you would love to ask some questions to some successful startup founders, then listen up! Silicon Canals together with Lightspeed HQ is giving ten students with startup ambitions the chance to attend a Q&A next week on October 26th with Lightspeed founder Dax Dasilva and Lightspeed Europe manager and SEOshop founder Ruud Stelder.

Groundbreaking Point of Sale system

Both Ruud and Dax have a wealth of knowledge to share when it comes to starting your own company. Ruud successfully founded Dutch startup SEOshop which ngot bought by Lightspeed last year, he now runs Lightspeed’s Amsterdam-based European head office. Dax started Lightspeed back in 2005 and the company has now grown to 500 employees throughout offices in six countries. The company has recently introduced their groundbreaking Omnichannel Point of Sale system for retail stores, with which every shop can be as cool and efficient as an Apple store, with tablets checking live inventory and providing full product information to each customer.

Location: Lightspeed Connect Event, October 26th

The Q&A will take place during Lightspeed’s Connect Event next week on Wednesday October 26th in de Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. This means you’ll also get to attend the event for free (tickets usually 60 euro through Eventbrite). The event will focus on all the latest retail and e-commerce developments in the Dutch market, and there will be great guest speakers as well from companies such as Heineken, Marktplaats.nl and Tony Chocolonely.

How to submit

Send us an email at [email protected] or send us a private facebook message saying what you are currently studying and where, what your startup idea is (or if it’s so brilliant you can’t tell anyone about it yet, then just tell us what type of startup it will be), and what you’d like to ask Ruud and Dax. As Silicon Canals focuses primarily on Amsterdam and around, students from the UvA, Hva, VU and Amsterdam Business School will get priority. Entries close Sunday the 23rd of October with winners to be announced Monday the 24th of October. If you already have a company in its early stages and you are still studying as we speak, then you can still submit your entry as well.
