Amsterdam-based Alphadoc, a platform that helps product and development teams create documentation fast, announced recently that it has shut down its operation on 16 August 2024.
The announcement comes as the Dutch company struggled to generate sufficient revenue to sustain its operation.
“Even though we received much praise from our users, we have not been able to monetise our services enough to sustain the business,” says the company in a LinkedIn post.
Alphadoc is one of the few companies that represented the Dutch ecosystem in Slush 2022 and 2023 at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Center on Nov 30–Dec 1, 2023.
The Dutch startup also attended World Summit AI 2023 (WSAI 2023) at the Taets Art and Event Park in Zaandam last year.
In 2022, the Dutch company raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-seed round backed by a large group of tech entrepreneurs and investors, including founders from Dimebox, Founda Health, Spryng, Reveall, and Growth Tribe; former leadership profiles from Adyen, Hubs, Recruitee, and WeTransfer; and private tickets from leading European VC funds.
What does Alphadoc offer?
Founded by Job Rietbergen and Daan Stolk in late 2021, Alphadoc claims to help API-first companies build ‘cutting-edge’ documentation.
The platform helps product and development teams create documentation quickly.
It enables teams to explain their product with a story, by automatically generating documentation and tutorials explaining how to use their API and keeping this documentation up-to-date when their API changes.
