Dutch carsharing startup Snappcar inks deal with four largest leasing companies in the Netherlands

SnappCar, a peer-to-peer car-sharing community, recently inked a deal with private leasing companies to share private lease car. The platform’s ambition is to increase the number of shared private leased cars on the platform by at least five times to 1,500 by 2019.

It’s worth mentioning here that, SnappCar has signed agreements with four of the largest leasing companies in the Netherlands: Justlease, ALD Automotive, Directlease and Privatelease.com

Why this deal?

According to the company, this deal not only contributes to the ‘greening’ of the shared car offer with more compact and clean cars, but it is above all the way to accelerate the adoption of car sharing

How does it work?

In this deal, car owners can offer their cars as a shared car through SnappCar. a pilot was run whereby lease drivers in exchange for a considerable discount, had to rent their car at least twice a month via SnappCar.

The pilot project turned out to be successful!

Notably, the Utrecht-based company started this project together a couple of years back, through Privatelease.com. Car models expanded!

Founded by Pascal Ontijd and Victor van Tol, the company tested the pilot project with Fiat500 in collaboration with Privatelease.com. Further, the range of models has expanded with the Peugeot 108, Volkswagen Polo, Opel Astra, and the Dacia Logan.

Van Tol: “Because of the expansion in models, there is more to choose for the tenants on our platform. In addition, these cars are new, have low emissions and are economical. That is not only an important advantage for SnappCar, but also for our participants. As far as we are concerned, 2019 will also be the year of the shared private lease car.
