Amsterdam-based Emerce is a multi-channel platform related to media, marketing, digital business, venture, and tech. The startup offers inspiration and knowledge to e-businesses. It just raised new capital with the help of ten internet entrepreneurs to realise the transition to an online video platform.
Emerce‘ive’ transition
The company has raised an undisclosed amount of funding with the help of ten internet entrepreneurs and looks to transition to an online video platform. The investors support further development towards a mainly digital portfolio.
Cor Jan Willig (co-founder of New Skool Media), and online media consultant Harm van Kessel will join the advisory board.
The new investment also marks the retirement of venture capital company Axivate Capital. About seven years ago, publisher Gijs Vroom and Axivate Capital had financed the buyout of Emerce.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Emerce has had to cancel their events for now. However, the media company has made a switch to online video since April. In collaboration with more than two hundred sponsors and hundreds of experts, productions are made around professional knowledge in digital media, marketing, and e-commerce.
Emerce has also entered into a strategic alliance with San Francisco-based publisher Reshift Digital. Last year, in February, Blink, a user experience (UX) research and design firm, acquired Redshift Digital. Together with the Haarlem media company, an interactive learning platform will be launched where professionals can develop further as specialists.
Gijs Vroom, director of Emerce, says, “We have made an enormous transition to a largely online portfolio. In the coming years, we want to stay ahead in journalism and content around digital innovation in media, marketing, and business in the Netherlands.”
Emerce became independent in 2009 after a management buy-out from VNU Media.
The platform includes special issues such as the Emerce 100, eGuide, 24/7 news, newsletters, webinars, a magazine, and events such as Emerce eDay, Digital Commerce Europe, and Digital Marketing Live. Besides, the platform also organises awards such as the Dutch Interactive Awards and Website of the Year.
