In the past month alone, numerous Amsterdam-based startups captured the attention of investors, amassing substantial funding to propel their groundbreaking ventures to new heights.

These startups have navigated through the turbulent waters in the business world to secure the financial backing they need to flourish. 

However, there’s more to their story! 

Besides roping in impressive investment figures, these startups are also on the lookout for talent to join their ranks.

We Are Eves claims to be the first beauty platform that allows real people to review beauty products that work or don’t work for them. 

Through its platform, the company aims to help women worldwide find the right beauty products based on honest reviews.

The platform is active in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, Germany, and France.

In June, the Amsterdam company raised €2.5M in an investment round led by new investor Airbridge Equity Partners. To date, the company has raised a total of €6.5M.

Cargoroo

Cargoroo offers e-cargo sharing bikes that are safe, affordable, environmentally friendly, and convenient. 

The company focuses on those who need a cargo bike from time to time, such as parents who want to make an excursion with their kids, people looking to move heavy or large objects, or students moving into student accommodation. 

Cargoroo raised €1.1M in a crowdfunding campaign on the Oneplanetcrowd platform from 543 funders.

Mama’s Meals is the brainchild of three entrepreneurs with backgrounds in the supermarket industry. It offers freshly prepared meals, salads, and poké bowls.

Their products can be found in prominent retailers such as PLUS, Spar, Coop, Jan Linders, Boon, Versunie, and Getir.

The company raised €1M from Dragon Pieter Schoen, the owner of Shoe Investments, 

BlueBird Power

BlueBird Power

BlueBird is at the crossroads of the mobility and energy transitions, developing hardware, firmware, cloud, and front-end software. 

It is a B2B2C firm that specialises in smart energy management in and around the house.

The startup believes that the energy system’s future will be sustainable, decentralised, and digital.

Its products and services combine to form an integrated Home Energy Management System (HEMS) in which smart charging and discharging of electric vehicles is a key component.

In June, the company raised €350K in convertible loans from the Innovation Fund Noord-Holland (INH).

Truvity

Truvity is a Self-Sovereign Identity toolkit that allows users to build their digital identity ecosystem. This toolkit includes features such as instant identification and verification, operating on Self-Sovereign Identity principles. 

With this approach, individuals and companies gain complete control over their data through their digital wallets, which house reusable verified credentials.

In June, the company raised €8M in funding from Artek Group PLC.

Insify aims to transform business insurance by making it simpler, faster, and more affordable for entrepreneurs and SMEs. 

The company has developed an intuitive end-to-end digital insurance platform designed specifically for Europe’s entrepreneurs and SMEs.   

Insify utilises enhanced data analytics drawing on dozens of signals instead of stale questionnaires. This ensures that coverage is tailored and individually priced for each business. 

The Amsterdam company raised €10M in a Series A extension round of funding led by Munich Re Venture.

Source.ag is developing technology to democratise access to sufficient fruit and vegetables through AI-powered greenhouses. 

According to the company, greenhouse agriculture generates up to 15 times more yields without the need for arable land and consumes up to 20 times less water. It is a proven option for local, sustainable, and climate-resilient food production.

The company uses millions of data points on climate, biology, and resources to build and implement optimal production plans using their in-house developed algorithms that simulate plant behaviour. They want to feed more people healthy meals while utilising fewer resources.

In June, the Amsterdam startup raised €3.73M in its Series A extension round of funding.

The company’s intelligent routing platform connects with preferred payment providers to optimise redundancy, reconciliation, and conversion.

The Amsterdam company’s platform is specifically designed to provide streamlined onboarding (KYC and KYB) and payment solutions for B2B, B2C, and C2C marketplaces.

Last month, the Amsterdam company raised an additional €7.92M in new funding, bringing the total funding amount to €13.98M.

Founded in 2011, Ecochain’s life cycle assessment (LCA) software offers data on the environmental implications of products to producers, addressing industries such as packaging, building, clothes, food and beverage, and consumer electronics.

Ecochain claims to assist businesses in learning more about the environmental impact of their products via the use of its product footprint tools and auxiliary services.

The Amsterdam startup raised €3M led by Phase2.earth and supported by existing investor Volta Ventures.

Skytree

Skytree uses direct air capture (DAC) technology to harvest CO2 from the surrounding air.

The DAC core technology from Skytree collects CO2 from ambient air onsite, filters it using a proprietary method, and then stores it in pressurised buffer tanks where it can be accessed and used by any company that often requires concentrated CO2. 

In June, the company raised €5.55M led by Horticoop and Yield Lab Europe.

Maxem is a B2B charging and energy management software that enables companies to enhance their EV charging operations. Amsterdam-based Maxem reduces the need for extensive grid connections and supports fleet electrification by allowing customers to regulate their energy flows better. 

The Amsterdam-based company secured €3M in a new funding round from SHIFT Investeren and existing investors Breesaap and Green Link.

This platform will provide restaurant managers with actionable insights and automated recommendations, enabling them to make decisions more quickly and with better knowledge. 

The company raised €100K from Singapore’s early-stage venture capital firm Antler.

The Amsterdam firm raised €6M in funding after bootstrapping since its inception in 2019.
