The COVID-19 pandemic has bought the entire world to a grinding halt. A considerable number of companies, regardless of their size, are taking all the essential steps to keep their business stay afloat. Recently, startups have been hit by layoffs, frozen hiring, made salary cuts, and much more as the novel coronavirus threatened to dry up funding and squeeze the business. 

According to the national statistics office CBS, the Dutch official jobless rate rose to 4.5% in July, as the number of unemployed went up to 419,000. In Amsterdam, around 29,000 people claimed unemployment benefits, a rise of 53% on a year ago, says another report.

24sesssions is a Netherlands-based software startup that was founded back in 2015. The company offers a video-conferencing tool for customer interaction with a slew of features, including automated meeting scheduling, reviews, and recordings. During the pandemic, the Dutch startup witnessed over 400 per cent growth over its entire client portfolio.

VanMoof

VanMoof is a developer and designer of urban e-bikes to help commuters get to work without breaking a sweat. The Dutch company says it realised a 220% global revenue growth during the worldwide lockdown and sold more bikes in the first four months of 2020 than the previous two years combined. To date, the company has €52M funding from various investors. As a part of its expansion plan, the Amsterdam-based company is hiring for various positions.

Adyen is one of the biggest payment processing companies with a market cap north of €40 billion. Based out of Amsterdam, the fintech company helps businesses with its payment platform, which enables merchants to accept payments in a single system so that their revenue grows online, on mobile devices, and at the point of sale. Founded by Pieter van der Does, the Dutch company has raised

Founded by Adriaan Mol in 2004, Mollie is a payments platform that offers an easy-to-implement process for integrating payments into a site or app. It facilitates companies of all sizes to build their business by allowing them to use different payment methods such as Apple Pay, credit cards, PayPal, Klarna, and iDeal among others. The Amsterdam-based company joined the fintech unicorn club after it raised €90M in its series B funding round.

Skytree is a clean air tech company based in Amsterdam founded by Alexander Gunkel, and Max Beaumont. The Dutch startup offers a direct air capture technology enabling its users to capture carbon dioxide from the ambient air and concentrate it for industrial use.
