The round was led by London-based Stride.VC, along with the participation of existing investor Connect Ventures.
The funding round comes two years after the company secured €2M in seed funding in 2019. Accountable will use the funds to accelerate product development, expand customer support teams, and reach more countries in Europe.
Nicolas Quarré, co-founder and CEO, says, “Accountable’s mission is to power the finances of the new generation of Indies and Freelancers, those millions of people across Europe who have decided to work for themselves, on their terms. Software powers this new class of workers with tools such as Monday for project management or Figma and Canva for design. But when it comes to finances, we are stuck in the middle ages.”
“Accountable aims to change that and free the self-employed from the shackles of tax planning and complex accounting so they can focus on their craft and their clients,” he says.
Founded in 2017, Accountable provides real-time tax optimisation recommendations for its users and aims to redefine the banking, accounting, and tax advisory experience for freelancers, consultants, architects, and others.
With Accountable, users gain real-time visibility on what they earn, taxes they should pay, and how to optimise the situation. By tapping into bank transactions, Accountable provides real-time tax optimisation recommendations for the users.
In the past 12 months, Accountable has witnessed rapid growth with a user base that multiplied by four times. The company has organically grown to over 10,000 users in Belgium and Germany.
