Zurich-based UniSieve is a cleantech company that provides molecular separation membrane solutions for a wide range of applications.

Raised €3.9M

Recently, the Swiss company raised $4.6M (approx €3.9M) led by Wingman Ventures, the GREEN DEAL Grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC, previously known as SME instruments), and the EIT Climate-KIC initiative. To date, UniSieve has raised around $5.2M (approx €3.9M) in funding over 8 rounds.

The grant is part of European Innovation Council’s (EIC) €307M fund that’s given to 64 game-changing SMEs contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal Strategy and the UN agenda for sustainable development.

How will the funding be used?

The finance will be used for production scaleup, on-site piloting, and commercial-scale design of UniSieve’s membrane add-on units. The proceedings will also allow UniSieve to establish pilot production and co-finance industrial testing at customers’ chemical sites.

It is expected that the investment will sustain until the closure of sales agreements for full-scale separation units, supporting customers in the chemical and energy industry in enhancing the sustainability of their operations.

Offers reliable separation solutions

Founded by Samuel Hess in 2018, UniSieve’s platform technology enables a unique combination of various molecular sieves and polymeric membranes, yielding reliable separation solutions. It supports companies from the chemical and energy industry in conserving energy and reducing waste.

The company is on a mission to reduce process energy by up to 90%, which in turn enables customers to recycle currently lost chemicals and allows them to drastically reduce pollution economically.

Earlier this year, UniSieve was selected to be a part of Fundación Repsol accelerator by Repsol. The company was selected to carry out an on-site pilot test at one of Repsol’s plants. The pilot was about confirming the predicted energy savings, CO2 reduction and increased recovery of valuable base chemicals, that can be achieved by simply adding one of UniSieve’s membrane add-on units to existing plants.
