- Some of the most successful companies in the world started off as a side project. Twitter, Groupon, Craigslist and many others are a part of this list. CodeSandbox is one such service that blossomed out of a side project into a full-fledged startup. The startup enables users to easily edit code online, without worrying about setting up the tools that are usually associated with the work. In the latest development, the Netherland-based startup has secured €2.14M in seed funding. Here’s what you need to know about the budding startup.
What is CodeSandbox?
One of the major difficulties while when one is coding for a living or just like to create programs is to set up the coding environment. Do note that the coding environment has nothing to do with your room but the tools required to write programs and test them. Coders usually have to download a bunch of programs like dedicated text editors and sandbox environments and/or frameworks to run the code they will write.
Doesn’t this all sound too much work without getting any actual work done? Well, it is. CodeSandbox was born out of the necessity of providing an environment, which enables programmers to simply start working without having to waste too much time gathering and setting up the tools for coding. The service came into existence as a side project and the startup was founded back in 2017 by Ives van Hoorne and Bas Buursma.
