Hopin – Tech5 2021 winner

London-based Hopin has been crowned the winner of Tech5 2021, thanks to an unprecedented growth explosion. Founded by Johnny Boufarhat in 2019, Hopin became one of Europe’s fastest tech unicorns.

Adyen’s VP of Brand, Charles Gilbert, says, “Going from just an idea to a product so many people around the world have now used, in only two years, is an impressive story of growth and focus. Hopin’s recent $450M Series D investment was a firm endorsement of the company’s financial performance and growth.”

Hopin is a live virtual events platform that enables attendees to connect, learn, and interact with people anywhere. To date, the company has raised $1B in funding and employs around 800 people globally.

According to Tech5 judge and co-founder of TNW Patrick de Laive, “We’re looking for companies that grow extremely fast and are disrupting their sectors.”

“The platform hit the mainstream at a tough time for the events industry and allowed people to come together while they stayed home. It’s dynamic, easy-to-use, and our Tech5 winner for 2021. We’re looking forward to seeing what’s next for Hopin,” says de Laive.

Launchpad for many companies

Tech5 has been a launchpad for various companies such as Wise, Delivery Hero, Cabify, Foodpanda, and more.

Each year, Tech5 judges identify the top 100 European scaleups. Let’s find out who the hottest young scaleups in the Netherlands are. According to TNW, the winners will be invited to local events organised by TNW and Adyen.
